About North Simcoe Physiotherapy

Mission Statement

At North Simcoe Physiotherapy, we are committed to providing clients with comprehensive rehabilitation programs to meet their individual needs. Our clinic offers a warm and welcoming environment where caring staff deliver ethical and evidence-based treatments to help clients achieve their maximum level of physical functioning. In order to provide the most effective treatments, our staff are also dedicated to increasing their skills and knowledge through continuing education and research.

Vision Statement

We hope to be a leading Physiotherapy clinic in the community. In addition to providing effective treatments based on current scientific evidence, we will become more involved with local educational institutions, mentoring students within the clinic and offering valuable learning experiences. We will also work to educate the general public on health issues and the prevention of injuries. Partnerships with organizations that have similar objectives will be considered as well in order to increase our ability to advocate the benefits of staying physically active and leading a healthy lifestyle.

Melissa Rudy

Melissa Rudy - Registered Physiotherapist

B: May 21, 1974 - D: September 5, 2014

Melissa attended McMaster University, graduating with a Bachelor of Kinesiology in 1997 followed by a Bachelor of Health Sciences in Physiotherapy  in 2000. Committed to constantly upgrading her skills and knowledge through continuing education, she`s taken a wide variety of additional courses on topics such as shoulder conditions and new trends in the prevention of running injuries. She's also completed advanced manual therapy courses, including: Mobilization with Movement and Diagnosis and Treatment of Movement Impairment. Melissa`s currently working  towards achieving an Advanced Diploma in Manual and Manipulative Therapy.

Specializing in manual therapy, Melissa has extensive experience in helping clients with post-operative  rehabilitation, complex shoulder conditions, running analysis and assessment, and sports injuries.

When not hard at work at the clinic, Melissa enjoys spending time with her family, running, travelling and exploring different cultures and foods.

Ased Ali

Ased Ali - Registered Physiotherapist

Co-founder of the clinic with wife Melissa, Ased now works as a consultant with the clinic while also working as a physiotherapist with Lakeridge Health Corporation. Ased attended McMaster University and achieved a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Bachelor of Health Sciences in Physiotherapy. He also has a certificate in neurodevelopmental theory.

Ased`s specialty is working with clients who have neurological, geriatric and musculoskeletal disorders. He`s also a Registered Assistive Devices Program Authorizer and is therefore able to assess clients, recommend appropriate devices for use and authorize their purchase to ensure government reimbursement.

Once his workday ends, Ased enjoys playing with his children and working on various construction and decorating projects.

Matthew Spina

Matthew Spina - MSc.PT, BSc.Kin - Registered Physiotherapist

Matt completed his Honours Bachelor of Science Co-op in Kinesiology at the University of Waterloo. He then traveled to Scotland where he completed his Masters of Science in Physiotherapy at Queen Margaret University. Following his studies he worked as a specialized neurological physiotherapist with multiple sclerosis patients. Matt combines an approach of manual techniques and exercise therapy while promoting an active lifestyle. Matt has also completed specialized training in vestibular rehabilitation to assess and treat various forms of vertigo.

Following his studies, Matt worked with professional and semi-professional sports teams including rugby and soccer and assisted athletes with their injuries, facilitating their return to sport. Matt is dedicated to expanding his abilities to treat concussion and vestibular rehabilitation. In his spare time, Matt enjoys playing soccer, baseball, golf, working with computers and spending time with friends and family.

Amanda (Amy) Jones

Amanda (Amy) Jones  H.BSc.Kin.

Amy completed her Honours Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology at McMaster University. She then completed her Masters of Science in Physical Therapy degree at Queen's University. Amy utilizes the most recent research when treating patients to ensure high quality results. Her approach also incorporates manual therapy, acupuncture, detailed exercise programs, and client-centred care to assist her patients towards their health and fitness goals.

Amy has experience as a personal trainer and works closely with her patients to educate and drive them towards success. She is dedicated to not only treating injuries but working with patients to prevent reoccurrence and future injuries.

Prior to working at the clinic Amy travelled abroad during her physiotherapy studies. When not in the clinic Amy enjoys hiking, camping, baking, and attending spin class.

Nancy Pereira

Nancy Pereira - Registered Physiotherapist

Nancy Pereira is a registered Physiotherapist and graduate of the University of Toronto. Born and raised in Oshawa, she has over 20 years experience in treating patients with various musculoskeletal and neurological conditions. She is committed to continuing education and has extensive training in manual therapy, McKenzie methods of neck and back treatment, sports injuries and muscle imbalances. Nancy has been fortunate to have worked in the community over the past 7 years, where she developed a passion and dedication to the Senior population in keeping them active and restoring function, balance and independence as an ADP Authorizer for Walking and Mobility Aides.

In her spare time Nancy enjoys cooking as well as travelling with her family and cheering on her boys at the soccer field or basketball court.

Kathy Kloss

"I have been a massage therapist since 1999 and I still love what I do. I feel a great sense of satisfaction when people achieve an improved level of functional abililty with their treatments and wellness programs."

Kathy graduated in 1999 from the Canadian College of Massage and Hydrotherapy. She is a long standing member of the Registered Massage Therapists Association, and Whitby Chamber of Commerce. She is also provider for Blue Cross and Veterans Affairs Canada. Kathy has expertise in PNT (Pain Neutralization Technique), Deep Tissue work, Accupressure, Active Release Therapy, Myofascial Release Therapy and NISA (Neuromuscular Integration and Structural Alignment). She has successfully treated a wide range of dysfunctions, including: frozen shoulders, sciatica, repetitive stress injuries, headaches/migranes, low back pain, sports injuries, plantar fascitis, neurological conditions and TMJ pain. Kathy is also certified in pregnancy and hot stone massage. She looks forward to seeing you in our clinic and getting you on the path to wellness.
